Welcome to
Berkshire Hills Aikido
The Way of Harmony

Step into a space where tradition meets transformation. At Berkshire Hills Aikido, we practice Aikido, the Japanese martial art rooted in peace, discipline, and self-mastery. Whether you're a beginner seeking balance or an experienced martial artist refining your path, our dojo offers a supportive and respectful environment for all.

Under the guidance of skilled instructors, you'll learn to blend movement, energy, and intention—developing not only physical skill but also mental clarity and inner calm. Aikido is more than self-defense; it's a lifelong journey of growth, harmony, and connection.

All levels are welcome. Come as you are—no experience necessary.  Join us on the mat. Discover your strength. Move with purpose.

A New Chapter Together

After decades on the mat, we’ve learned that the greatest skill in martial arts is the ability to adapt. As we’ve gotten older, we’ve realized we can’t—and shouldn’t—train exactly the same way we did years ago. But that doesn’t mean the journey is over; it just means it’s time for a smarter approach.

We’ve shifted our focus to Mind-Body Coordination and Mindful Movement because these are the skills that keep us moving, balanced, and sharp in everyday life. We’ve changed our training to respect our bodies while still challenging our minds, and we want you to continue this journey with us.

What This Means for You

A Focus on Longevity: Training that builds you up rather than wearing you down.

Smarter Movement: Learning to use coordination and intent instead of just raw force.

A Shared Path: Training alongside instructors and peers who understand exactly where you are.

We aren't stopping—we’re just getting better at how we move. Whether you’ve been with us for years or are just looking for a way to stay active, we invite you to come along with us as we explore this new way of training.

At Berkshire Hills Aikido we are not only interested in developing strong self defense skills, but in the development of each person as a whole. Aikido is a journey that will leave you a changed person; a journey that will become a way of life. We train in a relaxed atmosphere where students are encouraged to progress at their own pace. Safety and enjoyment in practice are of paramount importance.

Our convenient schedule offers both day and evening classes, even the busiest people can find the time to participate. Aikido training is a great mental and physical workout; and a great way to make new friends.

About

Mission
  • To Foster Mind-Body Unity: To develop "aiki" through the coordination of mind and body, prioritizing internal awareness over external force.
  • To Cultivate Serenity: To practice Aikido as a path toward peace and mental clarity, moving together in silent unison.
  • To Prioritize Sustainable Movement: To emphasize active relaxation and mindful coordination, ensuring a practice that supports health and longevity at every stage of life.
  • To Integrate Harmony into Daily Life: To carry the principles of balance and calm from the mat into our everyday interactions.
  • To Honor Individual Journeys: To provide a welcoming space where every student can progress at their own pace within a supportive, non-competitive community.

Training Method

Our teaching philosophy revolves around the idea that Aikido is best experienced from the inside out. Each student has the living principles of Aikido as part of his or her innate nature. It is the instructor’s job to help the student realize the nature of and explore the depths of these principles.

Your purpose as a student is to be open to the emergence of Aikido as a natural part of your life process, realize your full potential through dedicated study and practice and apply what you learn to your daily life.
